I hold a Ph.D. in Food Studies from New York University Steinhardt. My dissertation explored the relationships between urbanism, migration, nation-building, and foodways, focusing on the politics, history, and semiotics of material and digital foodways in Palestine/Israel.

In addition to my doctoral research, I am interested in  gastrodiplomacy (how food can be used to facilitate diplomatic initiatives), gastronationalism (how we build and experience national identities through what we eat), and how our sensorial bodies experience the world through the consumption of food. Additionally, I research food in video games.
